SUMMING UP 2023: OUR YEAR IN REVIEW

How would you describe your 2023?
If we have to use words to describe ours, they would be none other than: Pretty dang awesome.
Thanks to the constant support and commitment of our crew, we reached new heights on our Unbounded journey this year that not only celebrated new milestones but also new partnerships with those who share our passion for meaningful collaborations, with aim to create sustainable value.
Read on for a summary of our highlights for 2023. Going all the way back to January, this is one ride that we’ll remember for decades to come.
Welcoming New Faces to the Unbounded Kollection
For those of you who have done your homework on alternative surfacing materials, you might have recognised our new range of FENIX NTM colours that joined our Kollection at the beginning of the year.
Known for its super-matte aesthetics that are super soft to touch, selected colours of this signature collection is now available as part of the KompacPlus experience, bringing our total number of colour options up to 36.
Aside from the natural aesthetics of woodgrains and stones, our Plains series welcomed 8 new colours by FENIX NTM.
Bringing our Unbounded journey to showrooms near you
Over the years, you’ve heard our story, and met our people – have you stopped by our new homes in Malaysia and Singapore?
After 14 long years, we finally launched our first showrooms that feature our Kollection in creative installations and custom displays. In collaboration with The Habitatt Space – our sister company that was appointed as the Preferred Partner of Vipp in Singapore and Malaysia – each space is designed to showcase our signature styles in the familiar layouts of modern homes: a 2-storey corner building in Duxton (Singapore) and a single-tier unit in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).
Celebrated through back-to-back events, the grand occasion also commemorated the joint launch of Vipp, joined by Vipp principals Morten Woldum and Philip Nørgaard, who flew in from Vipp headquarters based in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Back to ARCHIDEX 2023: ShapeScape by KompacPlus
While a bigger part of our year was focused on the launch and set up of our showrooms, we still made it to the annual Archidex exhibition this year, held from 26 to 29 July at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre in Malaysia.
In continued efforts to share design inspiration through creative displays and installations, our theme for this year was ‘ShapeScape’ – named after the combination of odd shapes and curves that created a ‘landscape’ made of KompacPanels as our main booth display.
Through the event, we were grateful for the opportunity to reconnect with our community, while making the most of each day to introduce new features of the KompacPlus Kollection.

Participating in SDW 2023: MatterMorph by KompacPlus
An annual event organised by the Design Singapore Council (DSG), this year’s Singapore Design Week (SDW) was held from 21 September to 1 October.
In line with its theme of “Better By Design”, MatterMorph by KompacPlus is an open exhibition held at our new showroom, where special installations and experiment zones were set up for visitors to explore the flexibility of our signature KompacPanels for customisations, creative applications and more.
Did you happen to drop by during that time? Making use of all the space available, we even had an outdoor exhibit, featuring our Archidex booth display: ShapeScape.

Frondescent Rhythm: A Creative Collaboration for Singapore Design Week 2023
Aside from the signature selections by Vipp and custom installations by KompacPlus, one of the hidden gems on display at the launch celebration of our showroom in Singapore is Frondescent Rhythm, a creative serving tray that features KompacPanels off-cuts, designed in collaboration with NOK Creatives for the annual creative showcase.
Taking inspiration from the local flora and fauna, strips of KompacPanels frame the display, securely fitted on top of a base made of copper-plated ABS. Ever wondered how this sculpture got its name? From its appearance that resembles the fronds of your favourite houseplant, and the way the panel off-cuts are arranged to resemble a rhythmic wave, that is how ‘Frondescent Rhythm’ came to be.
Shoutout to NOK Creatives for the wonderful opportunity to collaborate again. We hope to arrange another playdate with you soon to explore unique ways that give new purpose to unwanted materials, in shared efforts to preserve the environment while creating something new!

Afternoons at The Learning Table
Did you know that we’ve also started our own workshop?
Designed exclusively for homeowners, The Learning Table is a regular event held at our showrooms to help first-time KompacPlus users understand better about our products and services.
Making the most of their visit to our concept spaces, the event offers the entire package. Starting off with an introduction to the KompacPlus Kollection, participants will have to chance to check out live installations and custom displays, followed by complimentary refreshments to wrap up the session.

A Brand New Wardrobe to Start Our New Chapter
As the saying goes, ‘In order to succeed, preparation is key’.
To prepare us for new Unbounded adventures to come, we’ve upgraded our brand merchs to sport a whole new look. In conjunction with our 14th anniversary celebration, we took inspiration from our recent milestones to celebrate the journey that started in 2009 – a retelling of our Unbounded adventures in the form of new tote bags, notebooks, posters and more.
In fact, some of you may have already gotten them through our limited time giveaways held on Facebook and Instagram. Are you game to collect them all?
